As we draw to the end of another week, I’d like to end up by talking about the unfortunate state of Internet Marketing. It is possible to make a very comfortable living online. It’s just that there are too many people who have turned the thought into something that seems fanciful and downright scam-worthy by claiming you can do it in a crazily small amount of time.
Now given that that might be possible, it’s not realistic for 99% of us out there. We are all too busy with our own lives raising children, working a full-time job (or two), studying a full-time course at university, etc. If it was so damn simple to make a fortune online in a small amount of time, then why aren’t there more people doing it? Why are we still all working our asses off, barely making ends meet?
Hear it from a non-guru, making a full-time income online is not simple. You are never going to make any money online buying e-books and e-courses. Everyone has to spend a certain amount of money before they realize that it’s never going to get them closer to their goals. They need to really place in consistent effort to make it work. Regular people have beaten the odds and do make a excellent living online (without scamming people), but it would have taken at least 2-3 years of consistent, hard work.
But now they can work the hours they want and spend time doing the things they like with the people most vital in their lives. I’m starting on my own small journey, living out my own beliefs; I’m writing at a place called SEOLinkVine. I’m using it for a year to rank for keywords that would probably take a excellent 6 to 9 months of hard work to rank for. But they’re worth it; they’re information keywords people are hungry to learn about. I know if I hit the top, I’ll be getting 50-100 visitors everyday.
I write my content, go back and rewrite every paragraph so that they have two variations, place my links in, then submit the content to SEOLinkVine. People then publish it and I get backlinks. Takes about an hour, but that’s all I need. Any more time and I won’t be able to study enough for my exams.
You might have heard of one Colleen Slater or “60MinuteAffiliate”. As her name suggests, she only does her IM for an hour a day as well. She was a lot worse off than I was but and now earns a very healthy 6 figures every year. She did her IM before going to work. It took discipline to get up an extra hour earlier every morning, but it was small-term sacrifice for very excellent long-term gains.
I also got an email a while back from Travis Sago who owns the rights to Magic Of Making Up, the e-book that started the whole “get your ex back” niche. In an effort to spur on his affiliates, he sent an email about one of his affiliates who earns $100K a year from promoting the very same e-book. She only wrote an article a day every weekday and submitted it to a major article directory. Given each article was long, probably 1000+ words, but without consistency, she wouldn’t have made it. That’s another inspirational tale.
You have 24 hours a in a day. Is it so hard to spend just one of those doing something profitable? It’s not that hard, yet people don’t place in the effort. I use SEOLinkVine, but don’t feel compelled to. If you can’t afford it, just do a Shannon. EzineArticles works, but it will take time. Find a compelling enough reason to continue and you will get there, eventually.
